Tanzania - a health center becomes a hospital
The Shunga Health Center is located in western Tanzania, close to the borders with Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The institution is located in a very remote area. The nearest town is 40 kilometers away. Without the clinic and its physicians, people in the surrounding area would be left to their own devices in medical emergencies.
The health center is undergoing a radical change. Chief physician Henry Ndege and his team intend to upgrade the clinic from their own resources so that the state can grant the facility the status of a regular hospital. As such, further qualified personnel could be requested in the future, whose salaries would then be borne by the Tanzanian state.
To support the clinic's team in their endeavor, Erbe donated a VIO 100 and technical accessories. "We are delighted to finally have the VIO 100," explains internist Dr. Iris Schlagehan. The VIO 100 enables physicians to work professionally even under difficult conditions and to adequately care for the needy patients.
Due to its compact size, the VIO 100 is particularly well suited for use in developing countries and is employed in many countries in Africa and Asia.
We are pleased to be able to advance this ambitious project of the Shunga Health Center with a proven generator and instruments for the OR.
